Usual dosage level: 2 oz. daily

A study in China showed LBP facilitated stem cell proliferation and
increased the number of monocytes in bone marrow. LBP helps the
monocytes to convert to matured leukocytes.
The berry has also been used in a number of recent clinical trials for
treatment of bone marrow deficiency conditions (low production of red
blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets).
Another three-year clinical study investigated the effects of the goji berry
on the immune, physiological and biochemical indexes of the blood of
aged volunteers. The results indicated that the goji berry caused the
blood of older people to revert to a markedly younger state.

Nearly 1/3 of all the food we eat has NO nutritional value. In 1990 the US Department of Agriculture stated that the nutritional value of food was seven times less than it was in 1958. Most nutritionists feel that is a very very conservative estimate. Some put it at over 50 times less. But let's be as conservative as the United States government. If your body needs "proper nutrition" to function properly, then that means you need to eat seven times more. There are some nutrients our body needs that have almost disappeared. Is America's obesity problem starting to make sense? Your balanced diet!!! To look at the many health benefits of Goji berries check out our website at www.gojiberries.us

The phytochemical zeaxanthin dipalmitate showed a hepaprotective effect on liver cells treated with carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity (Kim HP et al, Zeaxanthin Dipalmitate from Goji Berries (Lycium Barbarum) has Hepatoprotective Activity, Res. Commun Mol Pathol Pharmacol. 1997)

A spectrometer is an analytical device that is designed to measure how
substances either absorb or reflect electromagnetic energy. Different
spectrometers are specifically designed to work at different parts of the
electromagnetic spectrum (i.e., a visible light spectrometer measures how
substances absorb or reflect visible light; an ultraviolet spectrometer only
works in the UV range, etc.).
Perhaps this is as good a time as any to remind you that an apple is not
really red. It’s true! An apple only appears to be red because its skin
absorbs the orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet sunrays, but
does not absorb the red ones. Like a mirror, it bounces the red light back
to our eyes, and we say something clever such as, “that’s a redapple.”
If there were no red component to sunlight, an apple would appear to be
black (which begs the philosophical question, “Is an apple still red when
the lights go out?”). We will post more information on this topic and what it has to do with goji berries comonly misspelled gogi berry on our next post.

Goji berry which also go by the scientific name of Lycium Barbarum is credited with increasing the life span and having several health improving properties. It is one of the richest natural nutrients available on earth. It is said that the Chinese have been using Goji berries, as a food and a medicine, for more than five thousand years.

Even with its extensive and diverse nutrient profile revealed, the goji still seemed to be holding on to some secrets. There appeared to be many therapeutic effects that simply could not be explained. This was not a big surprise. With medicinal herbs, activity is hardly ever due to just one single chemical constituent, as is often the case with “conventional” drugs. Rather, it is usually a mixture of constituents that are responsible for the therapeutic or protective effect of botanical medicines. Many of these herbal components are unique to a single plant species. They are not found anywhere else in nature, and have not yet been chemically identified. There are countless thousands of these herbal constituents called phytochemicals (from the Greek word for “plant”). Very few official methods are available for analyzing phytochemicals. Researchers were forced to develop qualitative and semi-quantitative chromatographic methods of separation and analysis in the painstaking attempt to unravel the complex chemical nature of botanicals. So it was with the goji berry. The goal of scientists was to try to determine all of its biologically active principles, so that they could ascertain which of the many varieties of Lycium goji berries might be the most beneficial to humans.

The researchers knew that it might take many years to isolate and quantify every chemical constituent. However, they had an ingenious idea for a shortcut that would allow them to positively identify and catalog each type of berry, separating even those that appeared to be identical. Their solution was called spectroscopic analysis, a fingerprinting technique borrowed from the science of astrophysics.

I'm a grandma in my mid 40s and have the energy to keep up with my 2 year old grandson. People always mistake him as my own.

They also mistake my son for my brother. My husband and I both drink Goji juice. We've been taking 2-4 ounces 2-3 times a day.

It has helped in several ways. My blood pressure was a little high, at the borderline level. It is now down well within normal.

I've discovered that the flexibility in my neck and legs has improved. I sleep more soundly (and my dreams are much more colorful and strange, heh).

The best results I've seen however have been in my complexion. It has cleared up a lot of my adult acne and my skin is healthier. I LOOK YOUNGER!

My husband and I often meet couples younger than us … who believe we are younger than they are. I have actually been called "Miss" lately!!"

Cell damage is closely related to aging and cancer. Cell protection effects from Goji Berries have been shown in many human studies in China.

In one study conducted by Ningxia Medical University, thirty healthy people between 60 and 80 years of age were given 50g of Goji Berry to chew every day. After 10 days, blood samples were drawn to measure the level of SCE (Sister Chromatid Exchange, a popular marker for genetic toxicity relating to aging and the cancer process. SCE levels are lower in young people than that in aging people) and lymph cell proliferation. The result demonstrated that after taking Goji Berries, the SCE declined and lymph cell proliferation improved.

Dried goji berries can become a wonderful energy drink during the course of the day. Simply add the dried goji berries to water and allow the berries to release their wonderful properties. Drinking this elixir will not only provide the beneficial qualities of the berries to be released, but, in addition, will provide a healthy serving portion of fiber.

There are many uses for these Goji Berries; the most common being it's anti-oxidant properties. According to Oxidation Radical Absorbency Capacity testing, the recommended number of units of antioxidants that a person should consume should be minimum 5000-7000 (calculated in ORAC units). In comparison, the dried goji berries contain 22,000 units per gram which is just amazing.
