perhaps what is most impressive about this new miracle berry, is the high level of amino acids that it has, 18 in total including the 8 essential amino acids, making it one of the amino acid richest foods in the world. Essential amino acids are so named because the human body can not spontaneously produce this enzyme; therefore, it must be supplied by the diet. And since animals can not synthesize most of these enzymes, they must be supplied via a plant source. Although all of the amino acids are important three of the more important ones found in goji berries include isoleucine, tryptophan, leucine.
As cells function normally in the body, they produce damaged molecules, called free radicals. These free radicals are highly unstable and steal components from other cellular molecules, such as fat, protein, or DNA, thereby spreading the damage.
This damage continues in a chain reaction, and entire cells soon become damaged and die. This process is called peroxidation. Peroxidation is useful because it helps the body destroy cells that have outlived their usefulness and kills germs and parasites. However, peroxidation, when left unchecked, also destroys or damages healthy cells.
Antioxidants help prevent widespread cellular destruction by willingly donating components to stabilize free radicals. More importantly, antioxidants return to the surface of the cell to stabilize rather than damage other cellular components.
When there are not enough antioxidants to hold peroxidation in check, free radicals begin damaging healthy cells, which in turn, can lead to problems. For example, free radical damage to immune cells can lead to an increased risk of infections.
Goji juice contains many great minerals and one of them is Germanium. Germanium has 32 electrons, and when it reacts with another substance, it loses one of the 4 electrons in its valence shell, which leaves an empty space known as a positive hole; this creates a kind of a positive-charge "trap" that invites another electron to fill it. Here, a kind of hypothesis was set up based upon the idea that we can expect what is known in physiology as dehydrogenation. Depending on how one looks at it, a living body can be seen as an amalgam of tiny corpuscles of electricity. Each organ and part functions as its own particular assemblage. Because of this each part has its own electric potential, and disease is the result of positive and negative potentials being out of sync. Electroencephalographs and electrocardiographs are machines that identify problems by measuring changes in electric potential, and Germanium has wondrous effects in correcting imbalance in electric potential.
Exercise can build you up, but it can also wear you down. Endurance exercise in particular can increase oxygen utilization from 10 to 20 times over the resting state, and this greatly increases the generation of highly reactive free radicals. Once formed, free radicals begin a chain reaction, attacking and damaging or destroying the cells of muscles, connective tissues, and joints.
To prevent free-radical damage, the body has a defense system of antioxidants. These special molecules interact with free radicals, terminating the chain reaction before healthy body cells are ireparably damaged. Many fruits contain antioxidants, and although they may show impressive antioxidant capacity in a laboratory beaker (also known as the ORAC test), they may perform poorly once inside the human body. In fact, many high-ORAC dietary antioxidants never leave the digestive tract.
The best antioxidant strategy is to optimize the body's production of its own highly active antioxidant enzymes. These circulate in the blood, offering protection for the whole body against the damage and fatigue that can be caused by unchecked free-radical activity.
The Goji Well
During the Tang Dynasty (around 800 AD), a well had been dug beside a wall near a famous Buddhist temple that was covered with goji vines. Over the years, countless berries had fallen into the well. Those who prayed there has the ruddy complexion of good health, and even at the age of eighty they had no white hair and had lost no teeth, simply because they drank the water from the well. From the legend, a poem was crafted.
"a cool well beside the monk’s house
a clear spring feeds the well and the water has great powers
emerald green leaves grow on the wall
the deep red berries shine like copper
the flourishing branch like a walking stick
the old root in a dog’s shape signals good fortune
the goji nourishes body and spirit
drink of the well and enjoy long life"
-Tang Dynasty poet Liu Yuxi (722 – 842AD)
I am going to address how I feel about the "placebo" effect and Goji. Anytime you deal with people’s health you will have a placebo effect on some. I have a few key points to share with you. 1) Animals do not have a "placebo" effect. There are a lot of testimonials regarding great results with pets. 2) Lab work does not understand the "placebo" effect. I have seen in 7 to 8 weeks on Goji remarkable turns in regards to people and their blood work improving and a lot going to normal and this is on people who have had problems for years. 3) Diabetics monitoring themselves see better blood sugar levels with time. That doesn't work under the "placebo" effect. 4) even if the person is having a placebo effect for the things that they can (sleep, pain relief, energy…). What’s wrong with sleeping better, having more energy, less and or no pain, not feeling the side affects of Chemotherapy. I have seen for the most part people feeling better in general. They are doing better and without the use of drugs that all have side affects and don't always work on every patient. The results very and time of response to Goji varies due to the pollutants in ones body, your metabolism, the amount of Goji you take, the quality of the Goji, and your health issue. It may have taken years for your illness to take hold and we want instant results. I have seen fast results a lot of the time but usually it takes a couple of months for the toxins to flush and see wonderful benefits. Give it time.
Goji Berries strengthen the immune system, improve white blood cell count, and may stimulate release of rejuvenative human growth hormones by the pituitary gland. These amazing Berries have been traditionally used for strength building, adding longevity, regulating blood sugar and, have been linked to sexual potency, improved sleep and better vision. They have also been used in Chinese medicine for their anti-cancer properties. The Goji Berry is without a doubt one of the most nutritionally dense, medicinal foods on earth, and a true SUPER food.
What Do We Know About the Goji Berry Plant? The goji berry plant is normally grown in Tibet, Mongolia and parts of China. This wonder plant should not be confused with that they call the wolfberry plant. These two plants look similar and have similar fruits, but while the goji berry plant bears sweet and juicy fruits, the wolfberry is slightly bitter and dry in taste. Few people however, know about this basic difference and in many places in the world, the wolfberry is sold as a goji berry.
The goji berry plant is a very hardy plant that will adapt to almost any type of soil and climate. This plant was found to fight extremes of cold and heat such as -15 degrees Fahrenheit in winter and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in summer. Though the goji berry plant thrives in well-drained soil, it will grow okay in other types of soil as well. This plant loves the sun and it will always give you a better yield if planted in full sunlight. The only detrimental factor in the well-being of the goji berry plant is wet and soggy soil conditions.
With countless generations of people using goji every day to stay healthy, this powerful little berry has finally captured the attention of a new generation of research scientists, who have discovered a range of special protective molecules found only in goji. Dozens of studies are now confirming that these unique Lycium barbarum (goji's Latin name) polysaccharides (LBPs) are largely responsible for this potent fruit's remarkable benefits.
